A colorful explosion in a box!
happy mail day!

I received this amazing package of goodies from the wonderful FuzzyStuffies aka TheFruitySalad this past weekend! After a few crappy days involving a personal matter, this really wonderful package made my whole weekend a lot brighter and less gray!
The amigurumi's are handmade, the deer (Lou - named that way because he's blue and looks like he could be deery lou's brother) was made for me as a RAK and the little octupus (whom we now call Octavia :) was sent along for my boyfriend! Aren't they SO well made? Lou can even stand on his own :D Everything is totally tailored to my likes and receiving packages like this reminds me why I love Swap Bot so much! Through it I've met many wonderful people like Olivia! Thank you again my dear! Big hugs!!
Oh and if you like that little box pouch which is also handmade (and sent to me for a Tag at swapbot) check out her Etsy store LittleWhimseys :D

Easter eggs - amigurumi style
I recently learned to crochet for the sole purpose of being able to create adorable amigurumis. I had bought a crochet hook quite awhile ago, but it wasn't until a Flickr friend, fuzzystuffies, taught herself to crochet and started posting pictures of her amazing amis on Flickr that I decided that I really need to get serious.
Several library books later along with a bit of frustration and sore fingers, I have produced a basket full of eggs! Pattern is from Amigurumi World: Seriously Cute Crochet by Ana Paula Rimoli. I was bit disappointed at first that mine turned out too big for an egg carton, but they look pretty cute in the basket, which is probably where they belong any way!
Wishing everyone a blessed Easter.
Altered Tin by ShandaPanda
I wish I could master the tin altering thing but I am no good at it. I tried once with a fairy themed one and it was a MESS. It turned out ok in the end but I never really felt like trying it again. I think I'm way too impatient. And also, there really aren't any tins around here for altering. Some mints come in tins but they are rare and those tins are tiny. Don't really have any craft stores here either. I'll leave the tins to those who rock at altering them!

Happy Mail 2009
When I started swapping in 2007 it was originally only for tea and post cards. Back then I didn't know any people on Swap-bot, I just joined random public swaps. Lots have happened since then! I can't even remember how I met all the wonderful friends I have now.
It makes me so happy seeing all these things around our home that remind me of my friends. I'm so lucky! Alot of things I use all the time, like mugs, tins, pouches or tote bags. Some things are on my "happy shelf" in the work room just to be looked at. The candy usually doesn't make it that long though. ;-)
2010 has already brought me lots of happy mail too and I hope to be sending even more of it out to my awesome friends!
Little easter bunnies by Moa Maria
Anyway, Moa Maria also has a blog I like with lots of lovely photos and right now there's also a giveaway!

Matchbox drawer fame!
Thanks so much Tarah for telling me that my kawaii matchbox drawer was mentioned in the Swap-bot blog! I also read that blog but hadn't noticed it. Anyway, that was my first matchbox drawer and I have only made one more since then. It's hard to get them really good and sturdy. But they sure do look cute! Do you guys make them? | |
Easter surprise!
You know you've got friends ...
First of all, thank you Em for letting me participate in this brand new blogging project. I think it's an awesome way of showing the world how priviledged I am to be able to count you girls among my friends. :o)
Our exchanges of "happy mail" are sometimes part of a more or less formal swap, but quite often I open my mailbox to find a totally unexpected package, sent with the sole intention of making me smile. These RAKs (Random Acts of Kindness) can be anything from a postcard that made the sender think of me, over some edibles I am known to crave (sour skittles !! :o)), to some craft supplies to try out a new creative expression.
And this is what I came home to on Monday : an adorable inchie book and a tutorial kit on how to make them. These lovely items were sent to me by Lisa, who in our little group of friends is renowed for her gorgeous inchies. She knows I am a fan of the inchies and inchie books that leave her skillful hands, and by sending me this tutorial as a RAK, she is nudging me to give them a try. And isn't that what friends are for : making you venture outside the box and opening your eyes to a whole new world of possibilities?
